The Pentagram / Pentacle
The symbol of the pentagram, or pentacle, is scary to many people. Before I started on my pagan path, I knew nothing about it, but also never had a second thought about it either.
The most iconic symbol we see is the Cross/ Crucifix, which represents Christianity, God, Jesus, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, and probably other things I'm not familiar with.
There's the Ohm which represents the sound, or rather the vibration, of the universe if you were out in super space and were able to just sit and listen (which we can't).
There's also the Star of David, the Yin / Yang and, also, the pentagram, along with so many others, not to be exclusive.
The Pentagram, or Pentacle when surrounded with a circle, is considered the Witch's Protection Amulet. It represents everything we are made of: Spirit, Water, Earth, Air and Fire, in that order starting from the top and going around clockwise. Many witches, wiccans and pagans alike will wear this as a symbol of their faith, like those who wear a cross.
It does not represent evil, or the devil, or anything satanic, although movies usually depict it in a negative, cult manner.
But not to worry. It is another symbol like so many others we see every day! Have no fear - feel protected!!!
